Why Hire a NATE Certified Technician?

NATE certified technician—it’s not just a cool name. It’s a badge of professionalism and knowledge that you should look for in anyone you trust to take care of your home heating and cooling system.

What is NATE? Over the last 40 years, the HVAC industry has developed a number of educational programs to keep technicians up-to-date on the latest technological advancements and new government regulations. In 1997, the North American Technical Excellence (NATE) organization was formed as the largest non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration technicians.  NATE operates under the GOODS principle; it is Governed, Owned, Operated, Developed, and Supported by the HVAC industry.

What does NATE actually do? While not an educational organization, NATE is a third-party program that administers a test to qualify techs as experts in residential HVAC and light commercial and commercial refrigeration.  For homeowners, this certification means that your tech has achieved a level of technical excellence above and beyond what is required.

Hiring a NATE certified technician is very important when considering who to trust with your home heating and cooling projects. These technicians will not only be able to do the work, they can speed up the process of troubleshooting problems, provide valuable guidance when deciding whether to repair or replace a system, and perform HVAC tasks efficiently and expertly.

NATE certified technicians will also size and install your system so that it operates at peak efficiency, saving you money and energy.   Why does this matter?  According to www.energystar.gov, improper installation of your HVACR equipment can reduce its efficiency by up to 30%!  This means higher utility bills and a shorter life for your equipment.

So, the importance of having a qualified technician cannot be overstated.  Here at Home Comfort Experts, we believe in the program and feel that you should too.  Ask us about the NATE certification and how it helps ensure that you get the best possible installation and service for your heating and cooling system.
